What is CalendarFly?
Life Organized: CalendarFly is a free, easy-to-use, web-based calendar that gives parents and students access to homework, tests, games, practices, and family activities on their own, personal calendars. It is a full-service communication solution for families.
For parents, we change the question from "do you have a soccer game tomorrow" or "when is the math test" to "I’ll see you at Baker Field at 3:00 for the game" and "Have you done the problems on page 134 for the math test on Tuesday?"
And, we give you total flexibility on how much detail you’d like to see. Parents can easily click to have a child’s schedule show up on their own calendar in any color – or not. You can view your book club information and toggle off the church schedule – you choose. It just takes a minute or two to learn CalendarFly and only seconds to change your preferences. And, the only information you enter is for events you create yourself--Life Easier!

The Founders
Drew Aldrich, Founder and CEO, has a B.A. in Economics, U. of Rochester, and has worked in marketing, sales and web development. Drew developed CalendarFly because it’s the life organizer he’s always needed --and his parents needed even more.
Jason Cernansky, Founder and CTO, has over a decade of web development experience with federal and state governments and Fortune 500 companies. He developed the award winning CareerZone - a website designed to guide career decision making by providing students and jobseekers career and training information, assessments as well as job opportunities, now implemented in New York, California, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Through his work, Jason has vast experience in dealing with online security, privacy and safety issues.
Why We Created CalendarFly
CalendarFly was developed in response to a need we saw in our own lives. All of us on the CalendarFly team wanted a better way to keep track of activities. It struck us as crazy that when our sports teams would schedule a soccer game, we all had to put this information on our own separate calendars (or hope we remembered), and then, when there was a change, we all had to go back and do it again (or, in my case, show up at the wrong time). Why, when we had a family function, did each family member have to enter the information onto their own personal or family calendars?
We developed CalendarFly to solve these problems and make our lives easier.
In our vision, every family, sports team, and organization uses CalendarFly to keep track of events. All events - we're talking school, family, sports, local groups, and other random events. We see a world where a mother can take a look in the morning and instantly see that her daughter's soccer game was moved from Saturday to Sunday, her son has a big test coming up on Friday, her husband will be out of town for the weekend, and her appointment at noon is not actually at the Italian restaurant as she'd thought, but at the coffee shop down the road.
It struck me that I don't just need this type of service now--I desperately needed this service when I was a student. Not every child was as disorganized as I was, so it's true that I would have loved a collaborative calendar more than most, but we realized that every child and parent's life would be made easier if school life and assignments were on CalendarFly. To this end, we set about making CalendarFly first and foremost an educational scheduling tool.
Schools across the country already recognize the value of allowing students and parents to see what homework and tests are upcoming and they have turned to educational software services to fill this need. While these services have made it possible, they have not made it easy. Typically, these services require parents and students to go and seek the information for themselves; they often require traveling to multiple pages to find all the upcoming events; they only address school schedules and cannot handle the rest of a users life; and they are usually expensive.

CalendarFly is better because, by taking a brand new approach and great care in developing and designing our user experience, we have created a superior service. On CalendarFly, students and parents do not have to go find their assignments--the assignments show up on their personal calendars automatically. CalendarFly is easy to use (as evidence, even my mother loves it) and it's perfect for every aspect of your life. We work equally well for Math class as we do for the PTA or the varsity football team. When so much information about your daily life is in one place, you are more likely to check it and remember what you have to do. And, last but not least, CalendarFly is free!
